Every year I look forward to fall, because it is the coming of back to school. I love going up and down the school section seeing all the new products and buying items to donate. This year would be different as my own Logan is starting school for the first time! I knew that it would be fun to take Logan shopping at Walmart for his school supplies for the first time. This time last year We went as a family and shopped for school supplies
to donated with the #bagitforward campaign. I knew that this would be something I would want to do anything this year, but have Logan help me with. Well it happened to be that Elmer’s was having a simple service party this month to help with the bag it forward campaign. Bag it Forward is all about buying school supplies, for a school, teacher, or child who is in need and giving it to them. It does not have to a lot of items, just have you can afford. So I made a plan with my family for a afternoon of fun free food ;) as long as the brought school supplies to donate.
Before we could start the party I wanted to get my school shopping done for Logan and what I would be donating. I started out by downloading the Elmer’s 1st Day App that was on the Elmer’s school supply list. It was very simple to download and easy to use. Next it was time to head the back to school zone. I came at a bad time it was so busy and hard to push a cart down, but after looking over my son’s list I was able to find two of everything on here but a kindermat.You can see my whole shopping trip on my Google Plus album.
Logan was so excited to not only pick out his school supplies, but to pick out items for someone else as well. He said “Mommy we are doing good right?” I told him ” Of course honey.” One thing that is ALWAYS on the school list is Elmer’s glue. I have to tell you that I was in love with the color glue sticks this year from Elmer’s if you have not seen them you need to go out and get some!
After my trip to Walmart it was time to head home and get ready for the Bag it Forward simple service party. My dad took the job of taking every one donations as they walked into the door. He told me later on that he can remember those kids that had no school supplies in school. I then remembered growing up and seeing kids who waited in 4 to 5 hour long lines to free supplies.

After the party I already knew the school I was going to donate to. TLC is a private school that my sister April is the head teacher for, they do not get funds for their school, because of that they are always in need of supplies. So many times they have to reuse paper, and other items. When I walked in with the school supplies I was greeted by Allie and Sarah who were so excited for new school items.

Sarah thought it would be fun to “show” me how to use glue the right way. (Yes this was right before the glue went EVERYWHERE)
